April

Scott built a sleeping platform for the van and we decided to give a try. We met our friends Stacy and Amanda at Jordan Lake for a weekend camping trip. With the exception of a crazy amount of pollen, we couldn’t have asked for better weather. There was a fire ban in the state that weekend also so we couldn’t have a fire pit. We had called and asked if we could have a propane fire and they said yes. However, a ranger came over and made us put it out. I was so proud of the pups with how well they did on their first camping adventure.

The built a kayak launch in Southport at the waterfront and we were finally able to give it a try. It’s very nice. We ended up paddling across the intracoastal and started to paddle around an island but we were met with some pretty strong wind so we had to turn around and change plans. We paddled around for a bit and made our way back. It was an enjoyable trip and I’m excited to have a place to launch that is close.

Made another quick trip to Rockingham. This time I took both Moose and Anna. My parents just lost their dog Rocko, so I thought Thor could use some cheering up. My brother and Tinley were also there. Tinley had a great time “babysitting” the pups. She also wanted her own little photo shoot. It was a good visit.

Moose and I attended and completed Obedience 101 Training. I was so proud of him. He graduated after passing a test of walking with distractions and strange people/dogs down at the waterfront and around downtown.

Girls night out with my “January Friends”. I think they like making me eat at restaurants that are way more “adult” than I would ever go to if they didn’t pick them. I was able to find something on the menu. It wasn’t terrible. Afterwards, we went to American Fish, The Mullet, and Tiki Tavern. It doesn’t really matter where we end up, it’s fun to hang out with them.

Held a game night for the first time in a long time. It was fun to hang with the crew again and have some fun.

We took the pups to the beach. Moose loves the water! Anna does not! We let them both off lease for brief periods when no one was around. They did great.

Went to Wilmington for dinner and to see a comedian with some friends. Again they chose a very grown up restaurant but I survived. The comedian was funny and we had an enjoyable evening.
