May 2025
We started this month with a wildfire in Boiling Springs Lake which is only about 7 miles from us. It burned around 1500 acres and luckily no homes were harmed! Also, the wind was blowing in a direction that kept the smoke from us which was nice.

Our pups are such snuggle bugs.

The gift bags we made and put together for the nurses for Nurse’s Week.

A spider plant baby that I replanted. I think the real spider thought that plant’s name was an invitation. Ugh Scott rehomed him.

I took the pups to Rockingham for the weekend to celebrate a belated Mothers Day and my brother’s birthday. The pups absolutely loved swimming in the pool and playing with Thor. I had a great visit with the family, including my brother and his family. My nephew Talon has his learners permit and took us for a short drive! How did that happen?

Went out for a girl’s night and had a great time. We ate at a Japanese Sushi restaurant. I did NOT eat sushi! I did however try sake for the first time. These girls have a more adult palate than me and always take me to places I would never otherwise go. However, I always end up finding something I like. After dinner, we went to a few bars in Wilmington. Glad I have these girls as friends.

We took a trip to the Green Swamp to walk on the trail. There are several carnivorous plants that can be seen. The Venus flytrap is native only in a 90 mile radius of this area. It had been very dry before this and yet there were still some areas that were VERY wet. Guess that’s why it’s a swamp.

Mother Nature decided to give a “some” rain. We had 7+” of rain in about 3 hrs and it caused a lot of flooding.

The only blackberries that I was able to get before the squirrels/birds for them all.

Sara had a housewarming party for her new house that they built. It was a lot of fun and great to see them again. I made a special “pool party” dessert for the occasion. Her home is beautiful.

Love when we get a chance to have Captain John’s!
