Mother Daughter Trip

I made a quick overnight trip to Rockingham to hang with the family for a Father’s Day pool day.

Early in the morning, mom and I got up to head on a Mother/Daughter adventure. Mom just retired a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to take her on a special trip to celebrate. The trip was a surprise to her. I only told her what kind of stuff to pack and for how long. Our first stop was Sliding Rock. I had overheard her tell my aunt several months ago that she had never been here but had always wanted to go. We arrived early before the crowds. I went first to scope it out. NOTHING prepares you for dipping into 50 degree water! It was sooo cold! But it was a lot of fun and we went down the rock multiple times. On our way to the next stop we made a quick stop at Looking Glass falls.

Our next stop was Lake Chatuge. My friend Eileen was kind enough to let us spend the week with her. I wanted mom to have a relaxing and peaceful week with beautiful views and fun. Our first night we had rain but that didn’t distract from the views.

Since the day was kinda of overcast and cool, it wasn’t going to be a great day to play on the lake. We decided to take a drive to Georgia and visit Brasstown Bald. We were unsure if we were going to have a view due to fog, but after about 10 minutes at the top, the sky cleared and we had a beautiful view.

Lake time! We floated, played games, went for boat rides, jet ski, and I water skied. We enjoyed lots of good food. We went to a seafood boil at a lakeside restaurant for dinner one night and cooked the rest of the meals. I always have a good time when I’m here and I was happy to share that with my mom. I hope my mom enjoys her retirement and that we have more mother daughter adventures together.
