Around and about

We have been here for a little less than a week, and we have managed to see a few cool things. Not all of them have been in Seaside. The weather hasn’t been the best, but we’ve tried to make the most of it.  We have tried a few places to eat.  A mexican restaurant that we will never return to (they didn’t even have queso dip), a good breakfast place, and a sports bar that was ok.  We haven’t yet found a “go to” place. Here are a few pics of some of the things we have seen thus far.

This is a panoramic view of the beach at Seaside.  In the far right you can zoom in and see snow covered mountains while on the beach!

Instead of hurricane evacuation routes, we have tsunami evacuation.

A cool winery that we will definitely try!

During a quick trip to Astoria we stopped in the Maritime museum parking lot and walked around a bit.

Cannon beach.  We didn’t stay long because it was rainy and super windy.

These are some pics from Washington Park in Portland.

A western red cedar.  I thought the bark looked pretty neat.

Scott standing next to a Giant Sequoia.  The tree was very spongy!

Coast Redwood.

These are some pics of the forest where we saw these trees

On our drive to Portland there were some places to pull over, so we stopped and walked down into the woods for these pictures.  Most of the trees are covered with moss and it gives them an interesting look.
