Hood To Coast

Saturday was Hood to Coast Day.  It was a day that Seaside locals had been warning us about since we got here.  They told us that we should plan on leaving for the weekend or staying home for the weekend.  We did neither.  Haha. Hood to Coast is a 200 mile relay race that ends on the beach in Seaside.  There is a huge influx of people in the town and a big party on the beach.  We wanted to see what all the talk was about so we met Don and Paula in town and checked it out for a while.

We started by waiting in a long line to get into the 21 and over section of the beach.

There were lots of people and it started out as a nice day.  Here are a couple of sand castles that we saw.

As with any event, the prices were outrageous so we decided to go elsewhere to eat lunch.  We tried a Mexican restaurant in town.  They had good margaritas and really good pico de gallo (after I had them put jalapeño peppers in it).  I thought that jalapeños were a standard ingredient in pico, but not around here.  They say most people don’t like it that spicy.  Weird.

One flag for each margarita (but there was one not shown because it was in my ponytail)

After lunch, we headed back to the beach.  We tried some free samples of hard kombucha (not my favorite).  We played some cornhole and did some people watching.

This is a cool picture/video that the kombucha tent took for us.

Sunday we went for a long walk but other than that just had a uneventful relaxing day after a fun weekend.
