A Beautiful Day in Portland

Today was a beautiful sunny and relatively warm (40 degrees) day so we decided to play outside for most of it. We chose not to go far away and just hung out in downtown Portland.

First, we started off just walking around the city and made our way to Holy Donut to give them another try since they were sold out the last time. We were in luck! We tried a fresh lemon, triple berry, and dark chocolate with vanilla glaze donut. I loved the lemon and berry ones. Scott actually said he liked the fruit ones better than the chocolate one. They were good donuts and I’m glad we tried them but they weren’t the best ones I’d ever had.

There is a Love Lock fence in the city. Apparently it used to be an entire fence full of locks but the city deemed it unsafe due to the weight of the locks. The removed the fence but put a portion of it on display.

Right near the fence is a portion of the Berlin Wall. It is a segment from the actual wall.

We then enjoyed a nice long walk along the Promenade. It’s a walkway that goes right along the water. It was full of people today walking, running, and riding bikes. There is a small train that you can ride that parallels part of the trial.

There was a nice park that had parts of the USS Portland on display. The parks also had some nice hills that kids were sledding and tubing down. I had to fight the urge to go ask to take a turn. Hahha

We enjoyed our packed lunch while sitting in the warm sun and people watching. When we got home, we walked down to Willard Beach to enjoy the sunshine a little while longer. It’s so fun to watch all the dogs playing on the beach. Now, we get to prepare for the snow we are supposed to get in the morning. I’m hoping for the good kind so we can build a snowman and have a snowball fight.
