Family, Fiestas, and Fun

My cousin Melissa and her family finally made it for a visit! They were supposed to come last year but stupid COVID canceled them. It was so good to see them and hang out. We ate lots of seafood, spent lots of time on the beach, kayaked for sharks teeth, played games, went sailing, and did some catching up.

Finally….ALL of Scott’s bikes came in handy! Everyone was able to ride together.

Beach shenanigans.

Waiting to eat dinner at a restaurant we hadn’t tried yet, Rusty Hooks.

Ending the day relaxing by the fire.

Hunting for sharks teeth on Shark Tooth Island. We kayaked to 4 different islands on the Cape Fear River. I found teeth on all 4 islands. I gave the girls all the teeth I found and sadly I didn’t take a picture of them. We packed snacks and stuff to make mimosas.

Another beach day

Outdoor games in the dark.

My friend Jay was kind enough to take us all out for a day of sailing. It was a lot of fun and everyone enjoyed it (even though one person got a little sea sick). We had beautiful weather for the entire trip even though the forecast looked a little iffy.

We went for a night cap at American Fish. We couldn’t stay long because a storm was moving in.

The three of us got up super early to bike down to the waterfront to see the sunrise. Sadly, it was very unremarkable but we made up for it by stopping at Burney’s on the way home!

One final beach day.

Adult only dinner on the last night.

Cinco de Mayo

Melissa and family left early afternoon on Cinco de Mayo. When Scott got home from work, we went for tacos and margaritas at the Mexican restaurant! We even got Mack to wear a sombrero (briefly).

Did you know this day existed? Well, it does and I have a flag for it.

I finally got my kayak down to Southport! Hoping to get to use quite a bit.

For Mother’s Day, I went to Rockingham to see my mom. Also, my niece had her 2nd birthday party while I was there. I helped my mom decorate the cake and we spent the morning at the pool for the party.

I played kickball for the first time probably since grade school! It was fun but our team has a lot of work to do before next season!

We spent an evening at American Fish recently. They had a new icee machine with daiquiri and pina colada’s, so I had them mix both for me.

The Saucy Southerner, a local restaurant here, had a fundraiser for an animal rescue and for a donation they put your pets name on a sign with the distance from your house to the restaurant. We made a donation and we went to check out the sign recently. I didn’t know they would do the halos over the names or I would have had Tommy’s name on there too.

My lilies popped back up this year!

Mack has been extra cuddly lately.

We finally got the beach cruisers out on the beach for a ride during low tide one evening.
