Taco & Tequila Festival

Finally….we were able to attend our Taco and Tequila festival. Tickets were purchased in 2019 for a March 2020 event. But…COVID happened. They rescheduled the event 5 times and June 26 2021 we were finally able to have our fun. Scott, me, and two other couples went for the day. We had all gotten fun shirts to wear but because the new date was smack in the middle of summer, we decided we needed some tank tops. I made tank tops for Liz and myself. Scott, me, Liz, and Daniel got a hotel room within walking distance so we could stay the night and not worry about driving.
It was originally scheduled to be held in a park, but in all of the rescheduling it was moved to the NC state fairgrounds. Actually, a parking lot of the fairgrounds. It was SOOO HOT! There was zero shade and the heat from the asphalt made it feel like our shoes were melting. Combine that heat with unlimited alcohol… There were people throwing up (none of us), people being tended to by medics (none of us), and even people being taken out on stretchers (also none of us). We were able to partake in unlimited margarita bars (lime, strawberry, and jalapeño), unlimited tastings of tequila, beer, wine, and ciders. Also, there were lots and lots of taco trucks for us to choose from. We ate, we drank, we danced, and we sweat! We didn’t end up staying the whole time because we were just exhausted from the heat.
Nicole and Kim left and went home. Liz, Daniel, Scott, and me headed to our hotel room to continue the party in the hotel pool and cool down a little. We stayed at the pool until they closed it, and then stayed outside playing games until we were ready for bed. It had been a long day. In the morning we got up and went and had breakfast at Denny’s and then made the 2 hr drive home.
Overall it was a lot of fun. They could have done things different to make it more enjoyable (shade, not have it in the middle of summer, etc) but we all had a good time.

My shirt. We got compliments on our shirts the whole day!
I can’t imagine how hot these guys were!
