Fourth of July Fun
The Fourth of July Festival was in full swing this week! Thursday evenin* Scott and I went to our favorite food truck, Captain John’s for dinner. We ate outside in the shade next to the Southport Market where we could continue to people watch. Afterwards we went home and awaited the arrival of my brother and his family.

Friday morning everyone (except Scott) got up and got ready for the parade. Myself and some friends had already put some stuff out to save a spot for us in the shade earlier in the week so we didn’t have to get out there too early. We probably had close to 30 people in our parade watch group this year. Other than being super hot, it was a great time. We did a great job picking our spot.

After the parade we had some lunch at home and packed up for the beach. It was super crowded and almost high tide so the beach felt a little tight but a day at the beach is a good day. We hung out for several hours until it was time to head home.

I grilled some hamburgers and sausages for dinner and then when the time came, we headed to the waterfront to watch the fireworks. We found a great spot right on the water. Southport did a great job with the fireworks this year.

On Saturday, despite incoming tropical storm Chantal, we made it to the beach for a couple of hours. It only rained on us a couple of times but then turned out to be ok. Originally, we were going to go kayaking but the wind and waves didn’t make it a good day for that. Again, any day at the beach is a good day even if it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. In the evening after dinner at San Felipe, we headed to Carolina Crab Brewing to give it a try. Cool little place but not my favorite beers.

Now we get to welcome hurricane season with rain and wind from Chantal. At least it waited until the 5th.
