It’s Snow Pretty!

Today we took a scenic drive to Grafton Notch State Park. We were hoping to see a couple of waterfalls that were in close proximity to each other. The road through the park was perfectly plowed and clear of snow, but the parking lots and shoulders were not plowed at all. Because of this, we were unable to park at the trail heads and go to the falls. We did find a space to pull over right near Mother Walker Falls. We had to climb up and over a wall of snow about 5 feet tall. Most of the walk we were in calf/knee deep snow, but sometimes we would go down waist deep. It made walking quite the challenge. Wish we would have had snow shoes. Most of the signage was buried in snow so I have no idea if we were actually on the trail and not sure if what we were looking was or wasn’t the falls. It was pretty and and frozen whatever it was.

Scott tried to throw a snowball at me, but it was too powdery.

Next, we decided to stop at the Sunday River Covered Bridge after we saw a sign for it. It was very pretty. We were fascinated with the craftsmanship of the bridge. It is held together by wooden dowels.

We were close enough to Gorham, New Hampshire that we decided to make a quick side trip. It’s the town where you can get to the Mt. Washington auto road. The road is closed for the winter to regular vehicles but we wanted to see the mountain.

I mentioned to Scott that I had seen on one of the “cool things to see in Maine” articles that there was a sign post with exotic places and distances. He looked it up and found that we had actually passed it on the way to the state park but hadn’t noticed it. We made sure to pay attention on the way back and snap a photo.

On the way back I wanted to stop and look at Sebago Lake. It was frozen and there were people and cars out on the lake. I tried to convince Scott that we could drive out there by saying “if those trucks can be out there, we can too”. He replied, “how do you think the insurance company would take it when you say but everyone else was out there too”. Lol. So, we didn’t do it.

We enjoyed our scenic drive in this beautiful day and we had fun playing in the snow!
