Happy Anniversary to Us

Today we celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary.

We started the day early by heading the ferry terminal to catch a ride over to Ft. Fisher. The day was forecasted to be beautiful, but it started out with some serious thunder, lightning, and rain. By the time we made it to our destination, the weather had cleared up and the sun was out.

Our first stop once we got off the ferry was the North Carolina Aquarium at Ft. Fisher.

Here are some pictures from our walk through the aquarium.

The grimace on my face was real. I hit my head on one of the teeth and it really hurt. I thought I was bleeding. Lol

The aquarium is small but it was nice and we had a good time. Next, we headed up the road and stopped at the Fort Fisher monument.

After walking around the monument park, we headed north to Carolina Beach to stop and get some lunch. We went to a small hole in the wall place but we were able to sit on the roof and enjoy a fantastic view of the beach.

Everyone told us that we had to stop by Britt’s Donuts if we went to Carolina Beach, so we stopped and got a donut each. The donuts were really good and it was cool to be able to watch the process of them making the donuts.

On our way up to Carolina Beach, we had passed a civil war museum in Ft. Fisher so that was our next stop.

The museum was our last stop before we made our way back to Southport via the ferry.

In the evening, we went to the Oak Island Pier to watch a storm roll in.

I think we had a very enjoyable day. Here’s to many more years and many more adventures!
