Wooden Boat Show and Stede Bonnet Regatta

Today, there was a lot going on in Southport by the waterfront. First, we rode our bikes down to check out the wooden boat show. The day was on the chilly side and the sun was playing peekaboo through the clouds. There were lots of people, craft booths, wooden boats, food, and activities for kids. Here are a few pictures.

After perusing the wooden boat show, we headed a couple of blocks away to the Holly Days festival. There were lots of different booths with Christmas stuff and crafts for sale. Next, we made our way to the water where the sailboat race was going to take place. The start was delayed by an hour due to a ship heading down river, so we didn’t see the start. We watched a few of the boats just mess around while waiting to begin.

Later in the evening we headed back to the waterfront to have dinner at Provisions for their next to the last weekend for the season. They served a set menu cafeteria style for a flat rate donation.

We spent the remainder of our evening at American Fish Company where we were able to enjoy a beautiful sunset and watch some of the sailboats make their way back in.

The time of the year is coming where places along the waterfront are beginning to close for the season. Hopefully we will get in a few more visits to American Fish before the season ends.
