Rain, Rain, Go Away

February was a rainy rainy month here in Southport. I’m pretty sure it rained at least half of the month. Combine that with COVID restrictions, early sunsets, and cooler weather, and it equals the winter blues for sure.

So, for New Years, instead of a resolution we decided to try to eat at a new local place each month. We kinda get stuck going to the same places over and over so this will challenge us to venture out. For January, we tried a place called the Saucy Southerner. We quite enjoyed it and will most likely return. Only downside was that right now, it is only outdoor seating which can be a little cold this time of year. We sort of failed in February kinda. I tried a new place without Scott. It was Oliver’s on the water. It was tasty but a bit pricey to frequent.

For Valentine’s Day I did decorate a little bit. However, I did not take very many pictures.
This is the sign I made for my interchangeable frame.

I put out some red solar powered lights.

I also had hearts projected onto the garage but I don’t have pictures of that.

On our walk there is a tree that people put up little valentines bags for people to take.

We finally got our fence finished.

One weekend we dog sat for a friend. It’s always nice to have a dog around. However, it’s sad that she liked Scott more than me! I’m the nice one! I just don’t get it.

The same weekend that we dog sat, my brother and his family came for a visit. Talk about a lot going on. We very much enjoy having visitors though. Sadly, it was a dreary, cold, and wet weekend so most activities had to be indoors.

My friend Chelsea got married this month. Due to COVID, she ended up having a super small and intimate ceremony in her home and then we went to dinner afterwards. It was romantic and sweet. Outdoor pictures were difficult because it was of course raining.

My Christmas cactus bloomed for Valentines! This is a cutting from my mom’s cactus.

We had to make an unscheduled visit to Rockingham one weekend for a funeral of a friend’s dad. I was happy to see some old coworkers but sad about the circumstances.

I was trying to nap and Rocko wanted to join me.

Liz had a birthday and we wanted to celebrate so we did dinner and bowling. Scott and I ventured out and tried hibachi for the first time. It was entertaining and I liked most of the food. Scott didn’t care for it too much.

Right at the end of the month, we had a beautiful bright and sunny day that allowed me to be in shorts and flip flops. It was amazing.

Here’s hoping that March is a little bit drier.
