Tis The Season

It was once again time for my mom and I to have our annual Christmas cookie baking extravaganza. We spend ALL day measuring, mixing, baking, melting, and dipping. There are a few recipes that are constants and a few new ones we tried this year. We added an eggnog mini Bundt cake to the plate this year and it was delicious. Once we get them all made, we plate them up, wrap them, and deliver to my parent’s (and once ours) wonderful neighbors. This year I made personalized labels for the plates. My mom also made homemade dog treats to deliver with the plates.

The hospital held a Christmas Tree decorating contest this year. We were supposed to make it reflect our departments. We decorated ours completely with items found in the OR area. We even added a snow globe that we made out of a specimen cup with a leg bone and some bone glitter. The candy canes are made from the tops of medicine vials. Sterility indicators, instruments, syringes, and dressing materials also adorned the tree.

We played a dice gift exchange game with our coworkers. There was also an ugly sweater contest. We didn’t get to compete because we were scrubbed in cases while the contest happened, but we put on one anyways.

This year we met up with my parents and brother’s family on Christmas Eve to exchange gifts. We had some good food and even played one of the games that I received. It was a short but good visit.

Now on to planning the New Years festivities.
