Girls Just Want to Have Fun

This weekend we had a long weekend full of laughs, fun, games, food, and drinks! Thursday, my mom, Aunt Connie, and my cousin Melissa came to Southport to get the weekend started. My sister in law, Danielle joined us on Friday afternoon. My cousin Megan was also supposed to join us but had to cancel her trip last minute due to her kids testing positive for COVID. Since we were sad that she was going to miss out on all the fun we were going to have, we printed a picture of her, attached it to popsicle sticks, and took “Flat Megan” everywhere with us.

I made “swag bags” for all of the girls and had them waiting on their beds when they got here.

When my mom and aunt Connie got here, we took the golf cart to show Connie around town. She loves old cemeteries(we have a few) so we went through and looked at some of the headstones.

After the cemetery, we rode to the waterfront and were pleasantly surprised that we were able to watch a ship pass by.

After riding around for a bit, we grabbed Scott and went down to Provision for dinner.

On the way home, we stopped by the park to listen to a little bit of the concert going on. Once home, we got ready to head to Myrtle Beach, where we would pick up my cousin Melissa so she could join in on the fun weekend. After we picked her up, the GPS took us a different way home which made us ride by Broadway at the Beach. We thought, why wait to get the fun started, so we stopped there to visit Coastal Carolina Winery. Everyone but me (because I was driving), had wine slushies and we bought a few bottles to take home.

Flat Megan’s debut!

A little nighttime golf cart ride to end the evening.

Friday started with some rain. While we were letting that pass, we had some breakfast at home and got ready. Once the break in the rain came, we headed out on the golf cart to browse the shops in town.

We had to wake Flat Megan up. She stayed in bed until 11!

After hitting up a few shops, we went into Silver Coast Winery to do a wine tasting.

Megan face timing with Neil!
He wasn’t sure what to think about Flat Megan. Haha
Flat Megan fell down.

We discovered that there was going to be a long gap in the rain, so we packed a lunch, a cooler, and our beach stuff and headed to Oak Island. It wasn’t sunny at all but we had a great time relaxing on the beach and enjoying each other’s company.

Danielle finally made it to Southport to make our group complete. We ordered pizza for dinner. We then got ready to head out on the town for the night. First stop for the night was American Fish Company. We enjoyed the coastal breezes, lots of drinks, and a good band.

Our Golf Cart Uber.

Stop #2 for the night was the Tiki Tavern for some good ol’ karaoke. Melissa and I sang Shoop. I’m not sure the tavern was ready for us. Haha. Danielle and I sang Don’t Stop Believing. We had a blast! There was lots of dancing, singing, laughing, and drinking.

These people asked about Flat Megan. All they heard was, she didn’t make it, so they felt inclined to flip her off.
After we finished the reason why she didn’t make it, she felt bad and wanted to apologize to Flat Megan.
Even Flat Megan enjoys her Tito’s

Although we were done with the Tiki Tavern, our night wasn’t over yet. We summoned our personal golf cart Uber and headed home, where we hung out for a while in the backyard around the fire pit.

Saturday morning was a little rough for everyone so we had a low key morning. We just hung out, had some breakfast, and played some games. It was raining again, so we didn’t miss out on any outdoor activities. Later in the after, after the rain, we packed up and headed to the beach for a couple of hours. Again, there wasn’t much sunshine, but that didn’t keep us from enjoying the sights, sounds, and company.

When we returned from the beach, we got ready to go out for dinner and to enjoy another night out on the town. We decided on Fishy Fishy for dinner. There was a bit of a wait so a few of us decided to spend some of that time having a drink at the nearby bar, the Mullet.

Sneaking a nap before heading out.

After our delicious dinner, we walked over to American Fish for night number 2 of fun. On our walk over, we were treated to a pretty rainbow. A friend of mine from work was there when we arrived, so she hung out with us for a while.

After spending some time listening to the band at American Fish, we moved the party to the Tiki Tavern to try to repeat the fun times of last night. Although we did make sure we had fun, it was not nearly as fun as the last night. The crowd was completely different, and the band was not great. We stuck it out in hopes of it getting better. Once the band ended, the DJ too, over and things did improve a bit.

The band.
I take it she loves the band. 😉
This is how we were feeling about the band!

Our Tiki Tavern time was done but we weren’t ready to call it a night. Our personal chauffeur was graciously willing to give us an evening cruise around town.

Melissa taking a chance that Scott would not run her over! He didn’t.

While we were out and about, mom and Connie had called it a night.

Danielle left us Sunday late in the morning. Mom was also going to be leaving on Sunday but not until later in the afternoon. Before mom left us, we went for one last cruise around town on the golf cart and stopped at a new store in town. After our cruise, we headed up the road to a restaurant called Joe Loves Lobster. Mom, Connie, and Melissa ordered Lobster Rolls and I ordered a wagyu burger. I think everyone very much enjoyed their meals. We made sure not to leave Flat Megan out of our adventures.

The late nights are catching up to her.

After mom left, we had a low key afternoon and evening. We played some cards, worked on a flat Megan video, and watched a movie. Monday morning, Connie, Melissa, and I went to Locals for breakfast before we had to leave to take them back to the airport. We had so much fun during all of our weekend adventures. We had lots and lots of laughs and hopefully we will be able to plan another get together in the near future. Thanks to all for coming to visit and making the weekend so enjoyable and thanks to Scott for being our gracious chauffeur. Can’t wait until next time!
