Halloween Weekend

This weekend was a very busy one with lots of different events taking place.

Thursday – We went to our normal trivia night at Southport Tap and Cellar, only this time it was Halloween themed trivia and costumes were encouraged. I broke out the ol’ banana costume. We tied for first place.

Friday – The Tiki Tavern held their Halloween bash with the band LunaSea playing. We always enjoy hearing this band. We found some seats, enjoyed a few beers, and listened to some really good music.

Saturday – Provision hosted their annual Stede Bonnet Regatta and Pirate Party. This year, Chelsea and Jay agreed to enter their sailboat into the regatta. We started the morning with a captain’s meeting at Provision with cocktails and instructions. Then we got dressed up in our pirate gear and headed to the marina to board our pirate ship for the day. Once we pushed off from the dock, Jay realized that he had ZERO ability to steer making us dead 8n the water. We were at the mercy of the tide and the wind. Jay was a rockstar and using only the throttle and reverse was able to keep us from hitting any of the other vessels in the marina. We (the crew) were hanging off the sides and back of the boat to push off from any boat we were going to hit. We radioed for help from the marina and they sent a boat that was able to tie up to us and then direct us back to our dock. Once we tied back up to the dock and everyone could take a deep breath, realizing we weren’t going to make it to the race, we cracked open some beers and enjoyed the weather and company on the boat for awhile. Later, we headed to Provision for their free dinner and pirate party. Although we would have enjoyed sailing in the race, we made the most of the day and had the best time.

Sunday – It was time for the annual Southport Witch Bike Ride. I decorated my bike, dressed up and was ready to go. Scott decorated his bike and loaded up tools to be prepared for any problems that may arise. Our friend Kim met us at our house and rode down to the waterfront with us. When we got down to the waterfront there was a HUGE group (approx 150) of witches on bikes and golf carts. We took off and rode around the yacht basin before landing at our first stop Silver Coast Winery. Once we parked our bikes, Kim and I headed in to get a drink, only we never made it. Kim caught her foot on a parking block, tripped and fell smashing her face/head on the pavement. Once we got her up, I went in to get paper towels and to call Scott. When I got back to her, someone had called EMS so we waited for them to arrive. Her husband was prepping for a surgical procedure and unable to leave his home. I decided to ride to the hospital to be with her and make sure she was ok. Despite having a large goose egg, and lots of road rash, thankfully her CT Scan came back clean.

Tuesday – Halloween at work. We had a potluck where we encouraged everyone to bring in spooky food. We did not disappoint!

Halloween Night. These are my decorations at the house. We ended up with 24 trick or treaters. Not the most but not the least. It was an enjoyable night. The first kid said to me that he specifically told his mom that I had the best house and the best candy. So sweet.

Music in the park. We finally made it to a Thursday night music in the park this year. It was a cold night but we still had fun
